What is your cultural lens

Art Creation and Analysis    Your task is to create a piece of art that reflects a text that has some meaning to you. The art can be in any form you can imagine. You can paint, draw, sing, perform a dance, take a photo, make pottery, make a collage with magazine pictures, create a meal, or whatever you can think of. You can use any text that is important to you. It can be a religious text, but it does not have to be. You could use a poem, a song, a newspaper story, a letter from an old friend, or anything else that has some value to you.    You do not have to be an artist to do this assignment and you do not have to be an expert in symbolism. The point of this assignment is to see the connection between art and religion by creating your own art and your own symbolism. By participation in the analysis of a text based on your beliefs of what it means and creating a work of art based on those beliefs, you might better be able to analyze works of art and their connection to religion.    Consider what you read in the Unit III lecture concerning exegesis. Take into consideration every element that might affect how you interpret the piece of text for your art. What is your cultural lens through which you are reading the text? (Think back to your spiritual autobiography in Unit I.) Who is the author of the text? What is the author’s culture? Who was the intended audience of the text and what is their culture like? What is the purpose of the format of the text (Scripture, poem, story, etc.)? What is the grammar and sentence structure like? These are all elements to consider as you analyze your chosen text.    Follow each step in the list below.    1. Choose a text to analyze. (It can be as small as one or two sentences from a piece of work. You do not need to choose an entire piece of work, as that would be too much to contain in one piece of art.)  2. Read the text several times and write a short summary of what it means to you. This can be just a list or words. Consider this to be a brainstorming activity.  3. Decide what form of art you think would best convey the meaning the text has for you. Ask your professor if you have any questions about whether or not what you want to create would be considered art for the purposes of this assignment.  4. Create the piece of art. (Try to make it something fairly simple that will not take up too much time using whatever supplies you might have around the house.)  5. Write an essay, at least 250 words in length, explaining the choices you made with your art and how each choice reflects the text you chose. Be sure to consider the list of exegetical questions provided in the paragraph above.  6. Submit your essay. As we are in an online setting, you will need to take a digital picture of your art and include it with the essay document. Only one document can be submitted. If you have created something on the computer, you can copy and paste that into the essay document. If you have created something on the internet, such as a YouTube video, you can provide the link in the essay document. Be sure to contact your professor via email if you have any issues with submission.

define healthy sexuality and how having that understanding can help the client make wise decisions in their relationships.

Discuss whether cutting benefits is a good policy decision for the United States.

In the last few years, the fate of the Social Security administration has come into question. The system faces various challenges like the growing number of retirees and the shrinking number of workers paying into the system. In this module, you will look at possible solutions to such problems. You will also examine the political and economic consequences of implementing changes in public policy.

Your textbook proposes several solutions for maintaining the solvency of the Social Security administration.

  • Select one solution from the textbook that you believe might be effective.
  • Using the Social Security Administration Web site (www.ssa.gov) and the Argosy University online library, research the arguments made in support of this solution.

Social Security in the United States averages to about 40 percent of the citizens’ wages. This is two-thirds of the international average, which is about 60 percent (Macionis, 2009). In addition, politicians in the United States want to cut benefits further. Keeping this in mind, respond to the following:

  • Explain reasons for the disparity in Social Security between the United States and other industrialized countries.
  • Discuss whether cutting benefits is a good policy decision for the United States.
  • Give examples and reasons in support of your response.

Provide appropriate justification for your analysis.

Write your initial response in 200–300 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

By the due date assigned, post your response to the appropriate Discussion Area. Through the end of the module, review and comment on at least two peers’ responses. Cover the following items in your posts:

  • Provide a statement of clarification.
  • Provide a point of view with rationale.
  • Challenge a point of discussion, or draw a relationship between one or more points of the discussion.

how you intend to strengthen your competencies in all areas as you graduate onto the next step of your professional career

I need it back early to credit all the grammar. My school have a new system and I have been losing points on the grammar. also because it’s a new system I’ve been having technical issues and the module close by midnight, therefore I need to submit it hours in advance to avoid problems. This assignment requires you to gather a compilation of papers and projects from this course and previous courses and add them to your Professional Portfolio. The portfolio is designed to help you compile all you have learned throughout your undergraduate studies with the best examples of your work to represent what you are capable of doing when you graduate the program. This assignment also gives you a opportunity to reflect on what you have learned as a student of psychology, and to prepare to actualize your post-graduation goals. It will serve as a resource as you navigate the world of prospective employers and graduate admissions committees. The student portfolio is also a measure of effectiveness for the Argosy University baccalaureate program in Psychology.  As you develop professionally following graduation, you can add work samples and other pertinent materials, as well as modify existing documents, to reflect that development.

The Professional Portfolio includes two main sections.  A Professional Profile section that is completed by all students with either an Employment focus or a Graduate School focus, depending on your post-baccalaureate plans. The second section holds your Professional Work Samples demonstrating your abilities, skills, and competencies across a range of tasks and objectives.  This section also includes a Final Evaluation of your work samples, yourself, and the psychology program.

The Professional Profile section summarizes your career planning and professional goals. You have already compiled the documents for this section in Modules 1 and 2 of this course. It contains the following documents:

A Personal Statement describing your immediate and long-term career goals, including an explanation of why these goals are appropriate in terms of your knowledge, skills, personal characteristics, values, and experiences (Graduate School).
Note: The personal statement is attached to the Curriculum Vitae (Graduate School), and the Cover Letter is attached to the Resume (Employment), so take the time to be creative and not repeat yourself.

A Curriculum Vitae with list of References that is current, accurate and professional in appearance. (Graduate School)

  1. OPTIONAL: A copy of your Transcript(s)

The Professional Work Samples section demonstrates your performance and mastery of Argosy University’s program outcomes/competencies for the Psychology major. Select 3-5 documents to serve as samples of your best work in the program. Together, they should illustrate your mastery of all the 7 program outcomes listed below. Examples of the type of work that would illustrate each outcome is provided below, as well. The 3-5 documents should be samples of your work that you completed in previous courses as an undergraduate student.

These outcomes are listed below, along with the assignments that could be included to demonstrate mastery of the outcome:

  • Cognitive abilities (critical thinking and information literacy): Assignments or projects that demonstrate problem solving, analysis, synthesis, appropriate use of information resources, etc.
  • Research skills: A copy of a research proposal, a survey developed, etc.
  • Communication skills (written and oral): A topic paper, presentation outline, or PowerPoint that demonstrates your written and oral communication skills.
  • Ethics & Diversity awareness: Papers that demonstrate your understanding and/or analysis of ethical and diversity issues in psychology.
  • Knowledge of foundations of the field: Assignments, papers, or projects that demonstrate your understanding of basic concepts, theories, and empirical findings in one or more of the domains of psychology, including biological, cognitive, developmental, personality, and social.
  • Knowledge of applied psychology: Assignments, papers, or projects from courses and/or an internship that demonstrates your ability to apply psychology to personal, social, and/or organizational problems.
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness: PowerPoint presentations, videos of your presentations that demonstrate your ability to communicate effectively, appreciate diversity and cultural sensitivity and awareness of your impact on others.

Once you have assembled your work samples, you will write a 700-1000 word narrative to serve as a preface to the Professional Work Samples section. This narrative should consist of a clear and thoughtful analysis of how each work sample reveals your strengths and areas for improvement, according to each of the seven areas addressed in the program outcomes/competencies (listed above). Towards this purpose, you will complete the Student Self Appraisal of Learningfirst, and then use that to generate the preface . Make sure you also address how you intend to strengthen your competencies in all areas as you graduate onto the next step of your professional career. On which areas will you focus most and why?

This preface should also include an evaluation of the Psychology program as well as suggestions for the program that will enable it to help future Psychology majors develop these strengths and overcome these weaknesses in the future.

Enter each of these components (Professional Profile, Professional Work Samples, with self- evaluation) into the Professional Profile Template. Post your Professional Portfolio to theSubmissions Area by the due date assigned

Do you think speech is special or is it processed like other auditory stimuli?

Assignment 1: Discussion—Speech Acquisition

You have learned about the different aspects of memory in the previous modules. Language is critical not only to communicate with others but also to memory. Many memories are encoded using language. Memory is much more rudimentary when language skills are not present.

Research some of the general characteristics of language and the concept of speech acquisition in infants using your textbook, the Internet, and the Argosy University online library resources before responding to these questions:

  • Researchers describe language as having six different properties. Describe the six properties. Which two properties do you think are the most important? Explain your answers with reasons.
  • Jim and Sue just had a baby, and they are interested in learning more about the process of language acquisition. They have heard about the controversy surrounding the view that speech is special. Do you think speech is special or is it processed like other auditory stimuli? Explain your answer with reasons.
  • Several African languages use clicks as consonants. Jim and Sue, who are English speaking, cannot hear the difference between the different types of clicks and have a difficult time learning one of these languages. If they were to move to Africa when their baby is about one-year old, do you think the baby would be able to hear the difference? Why or why not? Do you think she would hear the difference if they moved to Africa after her tenth birthday? Give reasons for your answers.

Write your initial response in 4–5 paragraphs. Apply APA standards to the citation of sources.

By the due date assigned, post your response to the appropriate Discussion Area. Through the end of the module, review and comment on at least two peers’ responses.

examine the relationship between Sternberg’s triangular theory of love and types of adult attachment described by Baumeister and Bushman

Based on the work of Phillip Shaver and others, Baumeister and Bushman (2014) describe four types of adult attachment styles: secure, preoccupied, dismissing avoidant, and fearful avoidant. Research has identified that these attachment styles can be readily classified (Shaver, as cited in Baumeister & Bushman, 2014).

In Robert Sternberg’s (1986) triangular theory of love, he identifies seven types of adult love based on levels of three dimensions: passion, intimacy, and commitment.

Types of Adult Love

Look in the Capella library for research articles on the topic of attachment styles in adulthood, theories of love, and the relationship between attachment styles and types of love. Select one article that considers the relationship between attachment styles and types of love to use in this discussion.

Discussion

For this discussion, consider connections between adult attachment styles and the types of love adults develop.

Using the article you selected, examine the relationship between Sternberg’s triangular theory of love and types of adult attachment described by Baumeister and Bushman. Summarize the article and describe the findings. Did the research support or negate a connection between a type or types of adult attachment and type or types of adult love?

How would you work collaboratively within your scope of practice with other mental health professionals to ensure quality client care?

Topic 8: Benchmark – Counselor Ethical Boundaries and Practices Assignment Guidelines

Directions: Follow the directions below to write a paper of 1,500-1,750 words on counselor ethical boundaries and practices.

Provide a thoughtful response to each of the following four sections, including specific, concrete examples to illustrate your ideas. Use the section headings provided below to separate each section of your paper.

Your final deliverable should be one cohesive paper with headings addressing all four sections along with an introduction and conclusion.

Section 1: Boundary Issues and Dual Relationships

1. How would you determine if a boundary-crossing or dual relationship is ethical and appropriate? What criteria would you consider when making your decision?

2. Present examples of how you would apply this criteria to at least four counseling situations in which you believe the dual relationship issues are complex and ambiguous. One of your examples should address the issues of physical attraction between clients and counselors.

Section 2: Professional Collaboration in Counseling: Working with a Multidisciplinary Team

1. How would you work collaboratively within your scope of practice with other mental health professionals to ensure quality client care?

2. Who would you expect to work with as part of a multidisciplinary team and what would the role of each person on the team be, including yourself?  Refer to Section D (Relationships With Other Professionals) of the ACA Code of Ethics and any other relevant sources.

Section 3: Relationships with Supervisors and Colleagues

1. According to the ACA Code of Ethics, what is the role of clinical supervisors and what are their primary responsibilities? Refer to Section F (Supervision, Training, and Teaching) of the ACA Code of Ethics and any other relevant sources.

2. Describe the ethical issues involved in the supervisor-counselor relationship. How is this relationship similar to the counselor-client relationship? How is it different?

3. Occasionally, counselors will observe unethical behavior in their colleagues. Describe an unethical behavior that one might see and identify an ethical decision making model that would address the unethical behavior.

Section 4: Development of Your Thinking about Ethics

1.  Clearly describe what you consider to be the most important developments in your thinking about ethical practice that have occurred during this course. This may include areas in which you have clarified your views and beliefs, modified your thinking on a given issue, gained new insights, or acquired a new perspective. It may include issues whose complexity you now appreciate more fully or difficult issues that you now understand you must grapple with as a counselor. Be sure that you include specific examples to illustrate general statements. This is the only section in which your personal experience has been required. Therefore, you are allowed to use first person in this section only.

Include at least six scholarly resources in addition to the textbook in your paper.
