How might one determine the best path for treatment of depression in older populations?

A minimum of 250 words each question and References (questions #1 & 2) KEEP QUESTION WITH ANSWER

1) Think about an older person whom you have known over a long period of time. What personality characteristics appear to have been stable over time? What characteristics have changed? Do Erikson’s stages match your experiences and what you have observed in this person? If not, what changes might you make to Erikson’s theory (e.g., ages of the stages, or missing stages)?

2) Take some time to visit various depression sites on the web (e.g., http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/depression/index.shtml) and learn more about different types of depression (e.g., post-partum, seasonal affective, and bipolar disorder).

How might age be a factor in some of these types? How might one determine the best path for treatment of depression in older populations?
